 Synopsis
A prestigious fairytale illustrator is hired by the psychiatric hospital director. His job there will be to decorate the hospital walls with his drawings to improve the place´s atmosphere. It seems like an easy task but things get complicated when the sketcher discovers a dark corridor from where chilling screams come out.

 Worldwide success of 'Going Nuts'

On 25th May filmotech.com took part in the day & date release in Spain, referring to the simultaneous release of a cinematographic work – commercial cinemas, DVD and legal downloading from the Internet (filmotech.com).   The  film  for  this event is Gritos en el pasillo (Going Nuts), the most talked about release in recent months in Spain, and the first film in the world made with peanuts.

Released on International Freak Pride´s Day, and almost coinciding with the Cannes Film Festival, the film has had spectacular worldwide reverberations, with surprising reviews, and has reached one of the most prestigious publications in the sector, Variety.

 What you need to know

- It´s the 1st film in the world made with peanuts.
- Filming lasted 5 months and it has taken 2 years for post-production with more than 30 tapes of material.
- Cost of filming was 6,000 euros.
- It´s the 1st ever day & date release (simultaneous premiere of a film in the exploitation windows of cinemas + DVD + legal download) in Spain.
- 24 years old. The ages of scriptwriter and director Juanjo Ramírez and director of photography Alby Ojeda when they embarked on their adventure in 2003.
- Almost 1,000 shots make up the film.
- Hitchcock, Spielberg and Tim Burton: the three first directors to influence director Juanjo Ramírez in his childhood.
- Some of the films Juanjo is nuts about: El espinazo del diablo (The Devil´s Backbone) and El laberinto del fauno (Pan´s Labyrinth) by Guillermo del Toro. He also has a weakness for Orson Welles, Woody Allen and Billy Wilder.
- Twelve Monkeys by Terry Gilliam: As soon as this film came out in cinemas, Juanjo and Alby had their flash of inspiration: they decided to work in cinema.
- The Gritos en el pasillo (Going Nuts) phenomenon has had the effect of the proverbial snowball. Originally, the Project was conceived as a mere audiovisual experiment which has grown and grown – and continues growing.
- Prepare yourself – the production company of Gritos en el pasillo (Going Nuts), has an inminent surprise: the puppet animation Zombie Western (that is, a bloody Western with zombie puppets).
