Unfair competition in the turrón (nougat) industry, which spends millions on advertising, is ruining the small, traditional firm Planchadell y Calabuig. Against the wishes of patriarch and founder Don Fernando, who remains faithful to the principle that “good wine needs no bush” i.e. high quality products don’t need to advertise, his sons Agustín and Pepe decide to spend the last of their capital taking part in a food fair, convinced that if the Princesses open the fair and are given some of their turrón, their brand will be hyped through the media in every household in Spain. And, so father and sons travel from Jijona to Madrid, together with a cousin, Marcial Calabuig, an unhappy daydreamer, and four workers from the factory dressed in the Levante Festival style of Moors and Christians, who will demonstrate how to prepare real hand-made turrón on their stand at the fair. Living in Madrid is Cuqui, a sister of the Planchadells - a widow with political ambitions, who reveals that there is no chance of using the Princesses to advertise their products. Instead, she introduces them to López, her style consultant, to help them sell a few more turrones. This is the grotesque and hilarious odyssey of the Planchadell family.
