Martín’s parents are the caretakers of a big house in Madrid. His father, deaf and dumb, is in charge of the carpentry work. His mother – generally bad-tempered – rarely lets Martín watch the films he loves on television. One night, at the dramatic climax, just as the heroine is about to be shot at by some evil-looking hunters, his unrelenting mother unplugs the TV. The next day, to Martín’s amazement, the persecuted girl turns up in the porters’ lodge. Martín, determined to find out who she is, lets her stay in the attic.
