The main goal of this event is to promote sales of Spanish films abroad and make known to the international media the upcoming Spanish film releases in their countries.

For many heads of sales agencies and journalists participating in this market, Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings has become a must-attend event. Gorka Bilbao, of DeAPlaneta publishers, stated that ?Madrid de Cine is effective and indispensable, not only for negotiation, but also as a forum for public relations. It?s important to host an event of this kind and for Spanish cinema outreach.?

At this edition, there were 68 buyers from 26 countries and 55 different companies. 43 participating films were shown in a total of 61 screenings in Madrid cinema theaters. In order of popularity, the most seen films were I Want You (Tengo ganas de ti), Unit 7 (Grupo 7), Operación E, El artista y su modelo and Els nens salvatges.

In addition, a total of 116 Spanish film titles were available to buyers in the video library, where there were 127 viewings, an increase of 31. The most-requested films were Tangernación, The Sleeping Voice (La voz dormida) and Maktub. Germany, France, Slovenia, Italy and Colombia were the most active users of the video library.

The 7th annual Madrid de Cine attracted 29 international media outlets (daily newspapers, magazines, radio and TV broadcasters), which showed particular interest in titles such as El cosmonauta, The Sleeping Voice (La voz dormida), No Rest for the Wicked (No habrá paz para los malvados), Kathmandu Lullaby (Katmandú. Un espejo en el cielo), Wrinkles (Arrugas), Sleep Tight (Mientras duermes), Dark Impulse (Lo mejor de Eva) and Els nens salvatges.

Negotiations for its distribution in Latin America are already underway. In Russia, this film may be released with more than 200 copies for Russian cinemas. Furthermore, distribution of this film saga is expected in many other countries which made offers for it at the 7th annual Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings.
