Born in Barcelona 70 years ago, Rosa María Sardá got into amateur theatre in the early 1960s. She got her first professional theatre role in 1962 and by the mid-70s took the leap into television, where she became quite popular on Estudio 1 and entertainment programmes like Olé tus videos and Ahí te quiero ver and, in addition to appearances, wrote and supervised screenplays and directed and performed in various sketches.
In addition, SardÃ¡ has been master of ceremonies at the Goya Awards ceremonies on three occasions (1993, 1998 and 2001) and received the Gold Medal for merit from the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts and the Gold Medal from the Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Sciences.
Rosa María Sardá is now starring in Catalan director Ventura Pons latest film, a comedy in which she plays a bitter woman who rediscovers the joys of life when her circumstances oblige her to rent out a room to a young man.
