After three action-packed days, the
7th annual Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings trade fair came to a close with very positive results. More than
50 Spanish films were sold or are in the process of negotiation for international distribution. The main goal of this event is to promote sales of Spanish films abroad and make known to the international media the upcoming Spanish film releases in their countries.
For many heads of sales agencies and journalists participating in this market, Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings has become a must-attend event.
Gorka Bilbao, of
DeAPlaneta publishers, stated that ?Madrid de Cine is effective and indispensable, not only for negotiation, but also as a forum for public relations. It?s important to host an event of this kind and for Spanish cinema outreach.?
At this edition, there were
68 buyers from
26 countries and
55 different companies.
43 participating films were shown in a total of
61 screenings in Madrid cinema theaters. In order of popularity, the most seen films were
I Want You (Tengo ganas de ti),
Unit 7 (Grupo 7),
Operación E,
El artista y su modelo and
Els nens salvatges.
In addition, a total of
116 Spanish film titles were available to buyers in the video library, where there were
127 viewings, an increase of 31. The most-requested films were
Tangernación,
The Sleeping Voice (La voz dormida) and
Maktub. Germany, France, Slovenia, Italy and Colombia were the most active users of the video library.
The 7th annual Madrid de Cine attracted
29 international media outlets (daily newspapers, magazines, radio and TV broadcasters), which showed particular interest in titles such as
El cosmonauta,
The Sleeping Voice (La voz dormida),
No Rest for the Wicked (No habrá paz para los malvados),
Kathmandu Lullaby (Katmandú. Un espejo en el cielo),
Wrinkles (Arrugas),
Sleep Tight (Mientras duermes),
Dark Impulse (Lo mejor de Eva) and
Els nens salvatges.
In terms of film sales, the movie in greatest demand was
I Want You (Tengo ganas de ti) (Zeta Cinema, A3 Films, Cangrejo Films & Globo Media Cine). Negotiations for its distribution in Latin America are already underway. In Russia, this film may be released with more than
200 copies for Russian cinemas. Furthermore, distribution of this film saga is expected in many other countries which made offers for it at the
7th annual Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings.
