Considered to be one of the greatest cult films in Spanish cinema, Isnt Dawn Enough [Amanece, que no es poco ], by Jose Luis Cuerda, is now 20 years old. For this reason, and in collaboration with the Filmoteca de Albacete , the Academy is preparing a special screening of the film on 10 July. The projection will be attended by the director, Jose Luis Cuerda, and many actors from the cast, such as Manuel Alexandre, Miguel Rellan, Guillermo Montesinos, plus members of the film crew, for example Emiliano Otegui (assistant director), Porfirio Enriquez (director of photography), Jose Nieto (music), Carlos Faruolo and Jose Vinader (sound), Jose Quetglas (makeup) and Mercedes Guillot (hair stylist).
The celebration doesnt end here, as this birthday party includes a costume ball, with the collaboration of the online social network Facebook, where a page has been created with 9,000 fans. The followers of this surrealistic, naif masterpiece, can come to the Academy dressed as any film characters, though those in the costume of characters from Amanece que no es poco will take precedence.
On the same day and in the same building the presentation of the 1st National Short Film Competition Amanece que no es Corto will be held, in homage to the director Jose Luis Cuerda, from La Mancha, on the 20th anniversary of the release of his film, and to remind us of the locations in Albacete and the Sierra de Segura where the film was shot, which now form part of the Amanece que no es poco tourist route.
Cuerda himself will be the president of the jury panel together with a group of actors and film professionals who have worked with him throughout his career, for example Antonio Resines, Pastora Vega, Bebe or Raul Arevalo.
