The
Festival de Cine de Alcala de Henares/Comunidad de Madrid [Alcala de Henares/Region of Madrid Film Festival] will be held for the 37th year in 2007, making it one of the longest-running film festivals in the region and one of the most important cultural events for then city of Alcala de Henares. This years festival will take place from 9th to 17th November, nine days in which a whole series of activities related to cinema are organized. The two most important sections of this 37th edition of the festival are the
Certamen Nacional de Cortometrajes [National Short Film Contest] and the
Certamen Europeo de Cortometrajes [European Short Film Contest]. Two other featured sections will be
El dia de Irlanda [Ireland Day], with film screenings, music and social gatherings, and
Voces del tiempo [Contemporary Voices], an ambitious project presenting a publication, film series and exhibition of the emerging movers of Spanish cinema. In addition, other sections in the Festivals schedule include: Open Screen for New Filmmakers, Toy Story (a series of short films involving toys), Cutting Close to the Bone (a new section devoted to hot current events),
