The first time a film was released featuring these comic-book heroes was in 2005. That movie, despite receiving bad reviews, won the approval of audiences and earned over 300 million dollars worldwide. Given these financial results, Fox didnt hesitate to start work on a sequel, called Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, although, this time, the public gave it the thumbs-down.
Now, in view of what Warner has achieved with Batman and the new trilogy, Fox are eager to follow their example and relaunch a saga completely unlike the previous films. It will be entertaining, but have dramatic touches, with special attention paid to the special effects.
Neither the director of the 2005 film, Tim Story, nor the leading actors will be working on the new project. That means we wont see Ioan Gruffudd (Mister Fantastic), Jessica Alba (the Invisible Woman), Chris Evans (the Human Torch) or Michael Chiklis (the Thing). For the moment, the new cast has not been revealed.
