Pacino returns to cinema screens as the male lead of the film Betsy and the Emperor

According to The Hollywood Reporter, veteran actor Al Pacino is about to fulfil one of his dreams: to play the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. He is to do so in a biopic entitled Betsy and the Emperor, based on the book of the same name, about the last few years of the Corsicans life, when he is in exile on the island of St Helena. Here he makes friends with his jailers young daughter.

John Curran, who has made films like The Painted Veil, will be in charge of directing the film. The script has yet to be written.

Many of Pacinos fans hope that this film will give him a chance to use his great talent. His last few cinematographic projects have left something to be desired, for example the thriller Righteous Kill in which he starred with Robert De Niro.
