This series, called “Spanish Cinema from Andalusia” took place in the auditorium of the Chicago Cervantes Institute from June 17 to 20. Outstanding feature films such as Dejate caer , Doghead , Summer Rain , The Heart of the Earth , The Magic Cube , RH , Mision en Mocland and Missing Lynx , as well as the documentaries Ignacio Sanchez Mejias: Mas alla del toreo and Underground: La ciudad del Arco Iris were shown. Another five Andalusian shorts, Harraga , Outzide , Just Next Scretcher , Todos los dias amanece and Manolito Espinberg, une vie de cinema , also took part in the competitive section.

The Chicago Independent Film Festival aims to celebrate cultural diversity and the impact this has on cinema. Focusing on innovation, the work of new directors is supported by offering them a space in which their works can be exhibited and analysed, creating an environment in which to exchange knowledge and experience. This activity in particular will allow Andalusia to have an international showcase and thus encourage the promotion of its audiovisual production.
