For weeks rumours have been circulating about a sequel to Wanted being made soon, but it was obvious that without the heroine, Angelina Jolie, the project would be pointless. The director, Timur Bekmabetov, spoke to the Russian press and confirmed that Jolie would participate in the sequel.
Preparations for making the film will definitely start in July and shooting is scheduled for the end of next autumn or the beginning of winter. The locations will be America, India and Russia. We dont yet know under which circumstances the heroine will return; her character actually died in the first part.
Both the director and the producer, Fox, hope to sign up Kostya Khabenskiy, an actor who has worked with Bekmabetov before, on Night Watch and Day Watch. He also mentioned the appearance of new characters, but gave away no further details.
The preparations for this action-packed sequel will cost an estimated 150 million dollars, which makes it the most expensive film made in Hollywood to be directed by a Russian. Bekmambetov will also be involved on the production side.
