Madrid has become a point of reference and a must for experts, fans and amateurs of animation and all its current trends worldwide. Now the final preparations are underway for the tenth festival, which will be held from 24th September to 2nd October 2009.
The competition, one of the best-known of the genre in Europe, is once again being organised by the Madrid Community and the Pozuelo de Alarcon Town Council, which aim to foster the audiovisual and cinematographic arts and in particular this genre which arouses more interest every day, not only in very young audiences but also in lovers of quality film of all ages.
Furthermore, this year the festival offers a special retrospective of animation in Argentina, a country with prestige and well-established tradition in this film genre, as demonstrated by the fact that the first animated feature film in the world, El Apostol , was made here in 1917.
Of all the activities scheduled this year, the most notable are the Argentine animation cycle mentioned above, which will include the best works of Quirino Cristiani, Luis Bras and Norman Ruiz, plus the presence of filmmakers like Manuel Garcia Ferrer, Juan Pablo Zaramella and Liliana Romero, and business stands for networking and keeping communication channels between the two countries open.
