It was a well known secret, that Tom Cruise would play Ethan Hunt again in a new Mission Impossible adventure, and that the director would be J.J. Abrams, the filmmaker behind the cameras of part three. In a recent interview, the filmmaker said: I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as producer on Mission Impossible 4. Abrams has yet to formally agree to direct the film, but it looks as though he will.
Both Cruise and Abrams have a very clear idea about the storyline of the new film: Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing, claimed the filmmaker, but gave no more details.
What is clear is that special effects and action are guaranteed. A few months ago, Cruise stated that he intends some of the scenes to be filmed in Tokyo, but gave little else away. We will just have to wait for Paramount studios to give us some more clues about the project when it becomes official.
