Spanish actor and director Antonio Banderas is being honoured at the 44th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, taking place in the western Bohemian spa resort town of Karlovy Vary from 3rd to 11th July. Banderas, from Malaga, is receiving the Festival Presidents Award from the events president, Jiri Bartoska. This award is given to producers, directors and actors which have contributed to the strengthening the film industry worldwide. In the case of Banderas, he is being awarded for his work as an actor, producer and director.
The Festival Presidents Award was created last year and awarded for the first time to actors Armin Mueller Stahl (Eastern Promises , The International ), Christopher Lee (The Lord of the Rings> trilogy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ) and Danny Glover (the Lethal Weapon saga, Predator 2 ). Furthermore, French actress Isabelle Huppert (The Pianist, I Heart Huckabees ) and American John Malkovich (Dangerous Liaisons , Burn After Reading )is receiving the Crystal Globe Award for his contribution to cinema.
