James Cameron is on his way to topping sales figures for Titanic. To date, he has already taken in a cool 46 million Euros in Spain so far, backing up his success yesterday at the Golden Globe Awards, with prizes for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Director. The remake film of the most famous detective of all time, Sherlock Holmes, has had to settle for second place, as happened in the United States. That’s nothing to sneeze at, however, with revenues in Spain of 3.6 million Euros. The “bronze” for the week goes to the comedy Did You Hear about the Morgans, which dropped one place on the rankings from last week and is far behind its two stronger rivals, taking in 796,597 Euros. And, although the funny Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakuel also suffered from the eruption of British director Guy Ritchie’s super-production, it held on to an respectable fourth place with receipts of 605,240 Euros after four weeks in Spanish cinemas. Rounding out the top 5 is My Sister’s Keeper, another premiere in the drama vein and a tear-jerker. The film starring Cameron Diaz has earned 368,169 Euros so far.

Sixth place on the top ten list was taken by a Spanish production which has brought out the most cautious of film-goers, Cell 211 [Celda 211 ]. It’s 16 Goya-Award nominations raised its position by one in the latest rankings, 11 weeks after its debut, with earnings of 332,215 Euros.

Solomon Kane is slowly losing steam, placing seventh with 313,613 Euros, along with a sharp drop for Bad Lieutenant: Port Call of New Orleans, from fifth to eighth place, with 305,349 Euros last week.

It´s Complicated was able to scrape up 296,000 Euros from Spanish audiences. Last on the list went to A Serious Man, the return of the Coen brothers, barely holding on to a place in the top ten, with 210,785 Euros.
