After playing the cat in Shrek , the Malagueño actor will once again lend his voice for the protagonist of the Spanish animation film Goleor: the Scales and the Sword , which will begin filming in January 2010.
Antonio Banderas is embarking on a new animated adventure. After his experience in Shrek , he will be doing the voice-over for the main character in the Spanish animation film Goleor: the Scales and the Sword.
With a 22 million-euro budget, this will be Spains most ambitious project in 3D format after Planet 51. In charge of production are Green Moon and Kandor Graphics, owned by Banderas.
For script and direction, Manuel Sicilia, maker of The Missing Lynx , will once again be in charge. Banderas has been working on the project for over a year and hopes to launch the film for Christmas of 2011.
The tale, which is being filmed entirely in English, is about a knights dream in the Middle Ages to accomplish a feat which will bring him closer to a woman who is his secret love.
This will be Antonio Banderas second animation film after The Missing Lynx , which was selected by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood to participate in the run-up to the Oscar for best animation film.
