Bigas Luna (Bilbao and Lola ) is one of the Spanish directors who recognises talent when he sees it. This was the case with Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem in Jamon, jamon, and with Veronica Echegui in My Name is Juani.
Elsa Pataky needs no introduction, but this is probably the project she needs to launch her as an actress rather than being considered as just a pretty face. The film Luna has in mind will be called D. D. Hollywood, will be released in cinemas in September and will be shot in Alicante and Los Angeles.
According to the director, his plan is to make a kind of trilogy, beginning with My Name is Juani, about the life of an actress aspiring to fame. The movie starring Pataky would be part two, telling the story of an artiste who wants to triumph in Hollywood.
The third and final part is still uncertain, but it is highly probable that it would focus on failure. Bigas Luna is more interested in women than in men as, he claims, they have their feet on the ground".
Instinct led the filmmaker to think of Elsa Pataky as, like the heroine, the big producers are beginning to offer her roles and she is always in the media eye. The initials D.D. correspond to the name Diana Diaz, the main character, which has a certain parallelism with Brigitte Bardot, known as B.B.
