Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun will be the first film with a homosexual theme in India.
The most prolific film industry on Earth has decided to take a step towards breaking the traditional mould of Indian society with the production of Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun, the first film with a homosexual theme in the Asian country. The film, which has already come to be known as Indias answer to Brokeback Mountain, will tell the story of two men who have a romantic relationship, "serious and sexually explicit," according to the British newspaper The Times.
Up-and-coming actor Kapil Sharma is one of stars of the film. In it, this handsome actor will play an aspiring model who is forced to violate his own principles to get ahead in his profession.
The films director will be Anil Sharma, one of Bollywoods best-known directors, whose last super-production, Veer, was one of the top box-office earners in recent years in the action/ adventure genre.
This homosexual love story will be released in Indian theatres in May. Meanwhile, the most reactionary sectors in the country oppose overturning section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which associates homosexuality with paedophilia and crimes against nature, with penalties of up to ten years in prison.
