Danny Boyle will be directing 127 Hours , a drama based on the heroic story of mountain-climber Aron Ralston, who survived a near-fatal accident in a Utah canyon.
The winner of 8 Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire , Danny Boyle, is back in business. His next project will be called 127 Hours , and is a drama inspired by the heroic adventure of climber Aron Ralston, who hit the headlines in 2003 after living through a terrible accident in a canyon in Utah.
For this new film, Boyle will be putting his trust once again in most of the team he worked with on Slumdog Millionaire , in particular Christian Colson in production and Simon Beaufoy in charge of the script.
This new film by the British director, scheduled for filming next year, will feature some extremely harrowing sequences in order to faithfully portray the terrible ordeal undergone by this climber. Ralston deliberately broke the bones in his right arm by levering up the 90-kilo boulder which had been crushing it for five days, and then proceeded to cut through the flesh and muscles with his multi-tool penknife, finally severing the tendons with the pliers.
However, apart from his professional life, Boyle is also in the public eye for other reasons. At the moment the director is going through a tricky conflict with the families of the children who featured in Slumdog Millionaire (Azhar Mohammed Ismail, aged 11, and Rubina Ali, 9), and has threatened to withdraw their educational fund if they dont attend school regularly.
