Its no coincidence that its one of the favourites for the Oscars, with 13 nominations, including Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Director. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt, is for the second consecutive week the most-seen film in our country. Here it has earned 2,414,590 Euro, and has already amassed a grand total of 7,171,650. Second place goes to the comedy Beverly Hills Chihuahua .
The film sensation of the year, Slumdog Millionaire, comes third in its first week of release, having earned 997,546 Euro. Given that this film has got where it is today purely by word of mouth, its highly probable that it will stay at the top for several more weeks.
Another favourite for the Oscars, The Reader, has gained fourth position. Its definitely worth seeing this award-winning performance from Kate Winslet, as the 127,811 spectators who spent 805,888 Euro at the box office obviously thought.
The remake of Friday the 13th was a success in the United States, although here in Spain it seems that were tired of the lack of originality. This film, in fifth place, has collected 737,042 Euro. Next in line is Valkiria with 681,668 Euro.
