As the eminence he is in the film world and with the support of spectators, Clint Eastwood ran away with box-office sales in Spain last weekend thanks to his latest film, Gran Torino, in which he directed and stars, with earnings of 2,087,281 euros. Adam Sandler and Walt Disney, joining forces to make a new general-audience comedy, couldnt have been more on target with public tastes; Bedtime Stories took in 1,580,671 euros in its premiere week, coming in second. Third place went to Watchmen, one of the years most anticipated films, but seemed to have suffered with the intense competition and mixed reviews of the critics. This big-screen adaptation of this comic only registered 1,510,536 euros in ticket sales. Two weeks after winning eight Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire continued to occupy one of the top places. Last weekend, it came in fourth with 1,184,322 euros in box-office receipts (and a total so far of 6,460,082). In fifth position was The Pink Panther 2, a film starring Steve Martin, which has dropped a number of places in its second week since release in cinemas. Following it is another film premiere, The Code, a cops and robbers film sparring Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman which received 611,288 euros. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button remains in one of the top places alter five weeks. This time, it recorded 541,429 euros in sales, but now with a grand total of 11,354,554. Eighth place went to The Reader, a film which garnered Kate Winslet her first Oscar after six nominations. After that was the comedy Beverly Hills Chihuahua, at 310.060 euros.
Rounding out the list was Push, a teen action flick starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning, with 208,732 euros in box-office takings.
