The TotsxTots programme of COM Radio is organizing the first "Muestra de Documentales Solidarios de Barcelona" [Barcelona Solidarity Documentary Series], as a parallel section to the 9th Docupolis Festival. This event is being held on 3rd and 4th October in Barcelona’s Centre de Cultura Contemporania.

The “Mostra” will open with the documentary Desplazados , by Josep Lluis Penades. Filmed in the Barrio de Los Altos de la Florida, on the South side of Bogota, Desplazados is a story for all of those who have had to run away from their roots, their family, their friends and their jobs because of war and human rights violations. After the screening of the film, there will be a round-table discussion with the filmmaker, other documentary filmmakers, and people connected to rights defending and humanitarian organizations, who will exchange views on the difficulties and challenges of this work.

The series includes viewing of fifty works by documentary filmmakers and non-governmental organizations devoted to humanitarian causes and development. These will be audiovisual productions made by Catalan journalists and advocates which often don’t reach the citizenry due to the difficulties with finding the means of exhibiting them. The “Mostra de Documentals Solidaris de Barcelona” wants to give this opportunity to the general public and professionals to disseminate situations far from our reality and the work of many organizations which go to places others don’t go.
