The film adaptation of the popular TV series will have one of the original stars as a nod to the storys biggest fans.
Benedict achieved enormous popularity as an actor in 1983 thanks to his role as Templeton Peck "Phoenix" in the hit series. His character was one of the most seductive among the group of four soldiers in this popular fiction series.
This news has been confirmed after another of the actors in the series, Dwight Schultz, who played the famous and nutty Captain Murdock, also confirmed his appearance in the film version.
The film, which is scheduled to debut on June 11, 2010 is being directed by Joe Carnahan, maker of other hit films like Smokin Aces (2007).
Filming is currently wrapping up in Vancouver (Canada), and has a line-up including Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Quinton Jackson, Patrick Wilson, and Yul Vazquez.
