Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman will co-star with Paul Giamatti in the independent drama Barney´s Version , based on the novel by Canadian writer Mordecai Richler.

Hoffman, whose film Last Chance Harvey is still showing in cinemas, will play a retired cop whose life has been marked by three marriages and two kids, and who is now a suspect in the mysterious disappearance of a friend.

While waiting for the cameras to roll, Hoffman is getting ready to take on the role of Bernie Focker again: that is, Ben Stillers father from Meet the Fockers. The new film will be directed by Paul Weitz, and the cast will be composed of Stiller, Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand, et al. Filming is scheduled to start in July this year.
