After nine weeks of shooting, Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington has finished filming Lope , a romantic comedy fable in the style of Shakespeare in Love , about Spains Phoenix of Geniuses, the immortal poet and dramatist Felix Lope de Vega y Carpio whose life, in the words of the films director is one of endless adventures and loves so incredible, so exciting and passionate, that they seem written by a novelist carried away with an overactive imagination.

With script by Jordi Gasull and Ignacio del Moral, and produced by Antena 3 Films, El Toro Pictures, Ikiru Films and Conspiraçao Filmes (Brazil), the film stars Alberto Ammann, Leonor Watling, Pilar Lopez de Ayala, Juan Diego, Luis Tosar and Antonio de la Torre and tells how Lope is caught between loving two women while being pursued by the Law, imprisoned, and threatened by hired assassins and bandits.
