Morena Films is preparing a 3D film on the Altamira Caves, directed Jose Luis Lopez Linares and starring Carlos Bardem.

Spanish producer Morena Films is preparing to shoot a film about the Altamira Caves. Filmed in 3D, it is planned to be an innovative audiovisual work which tells, with a combination of fiction and documentary, about three related stories which come together at one point: the spectacular master work of pre-historic art declared a Universal Patrimony site.

The main characters of the film will be the master artist who did the paintings, played by Carlos Bardem, the archaeologist who discovered them, and two scientists who are working in the caves today. Through these three points of view, we be able to approach an emotional and enriching experience as never before. Moreover, the decision to film in 3D will allow us to go further still and make this project an unequalled historical record in which the viewer will be able to understand first-hand why these caves are so special.

Filming will start in September in Cantabria and will be directed by Jose Luis Lopez Linares.
