The Spanish film Fuga de cerebros, featuring well-known faces from television, goes straight to the top as the most seen film last weekend.
Spanish cinema is still on the up. A few weeks ago Mentiras y gordas was a hit, but last weekends success was Fuga de cerebros . Good or bad reviews dont matter; the important thing is that our national cinemas are raking it in. In case there was any doubt, what stands out is that the marriage of TV and cinema is a cornucopia, and that 1,197,618 euros at the box office can prove it.
Second place is taken by Race to Witch Mountain, a family comedy starring Dwayne Johnson which is still obtaining good results with 846,970 euros.
Russell Crowe and State of Play fall to third place with 777,811, after occupying first place the week it was released. Competition is tough.
Another tough guy gets in at fourth place in its first week of release. This is Clive Owen with The International . With Naomi Watts as his partner, they have earned 666,912 euros.
Nicolas Cage is at fifth place with Knowing at 378,536 euros, followed by Clint Eastwood, known for his staying power, and his Gran Torino , which after eight weeks in cinemas is still in the Top Ten.
Monsters vs. Aliens is taking up both seventh and eighth place thanks to its 3D version. Ninth place is, surprisingly, for another Spanish film, the comedy Al final del camino (258,757 euros) starring Fernando Tejero and Malena Alterio. Last on the list at number ten is Fast & Furious with 194,659 euros.
