Girona is hosting the second annual Cartoon Tributes, honors which the European Association of Animation Film bestow in recognition of the contribution of companies to the development of the European animation film industry. The event is being held from 19th to 22nd September, and this is the first year that an international animation event comes to the 800 participants. All together, 29 countries (of which 25 are European) will be present, and its the big step in the development process for animation films. Cartoon Forum is one of the most important gatherings in Europe for the animation sector. For the four days the event is being held in Girona, approximately 60 projects will be presented with the aim of getting them produced, distributed and marketed. Gironas Cartoon Forum, which welcomes the best current animation sector creations, also presents new industry trends: the influence of new platforms in production or the incorporation of new imaging technologies.
Cartoon Forum is organized by Cartoon European Association of Animation Film producers, and has the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union along with the Institut Catala de les Industries Culturals de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Television de Cataluña, Catalan Films & TV, the City of Girona, Media Antena Cataluña and the Universitat de Girona.
