The latest Harry Potter film has been a great success all over the world since it came out on 15 July. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince broke its first record in the United States, becoming the most-seen film of the pre-release midnight screenings, and earning 22 million dollars, overtaking The Dark Knight . Later, in just one day, the film brought in almost 74 million euros world-wide. In Spain, during the weekend, the movie earned 3,849,272 euros, and since the day it was released it has made a total of 6,788,604 euros.
Despite the outrageous figures it cost to make, it is true that Ice Age : Dawn of the Dinosaurs earned over five million euros during the weekend it was released. This animated movie (which is in both second and third place in the Top 10) this week brought in nearly two million euros including the box-office takings of the 3D version.
Fourth place is held by the comedy The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, with 628,807 euros, followed by the thriller Beyond a Reasonable Doubt with 352,954 euros.
Sasha Baron Cohen and his offbeat sense of humour fall to sixth place with Bruno thanks to earnings of 319,816 euros. Next, Millenium: Part 1 Men Who Hate Women remains firmly established in the Top 10 of most seen films in Spain and has now earned a total of 7,072,831 euros.
The horror film The Last House on the Left has brought in 226,507 euros and the Spanish comedy Pagafantas (Friend Zone) is the only national product which has manages to worm its way into the Top 10 of most seen films in Spain. In its third week out in cinemas it has earned 210,912 euros.
Bringing up the rear is the blockbuster directed by Michael Bay, Transfomers: Revenge of the Fallen , falling from sixth to tenth place with just 186,089 euros. After four weeks in cinemas, the movie seems not to have been a great success in Spain and has only earned a total of 5,694,918 euros, an extremely low figure considering the products cost and aspirations.
