In its 33rd edition, the Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva [Ibero-American film festival of Huelva] – in which 12 feature films are competing for the Colon de Oro award – is bringing together a wide variety of film styles and themes, from the most commercial cuts to author-produced films. The festival is offering a complete panorama of current Ibero-American production. Among the films in the event, there are six co-productions, with thirteen participating countries, offering a good representation of Ibero-American cinema of our times, thus giving spectators more opportunities to see quality Ibero-American cinema. This year’s event starts on 17th November, with six of the feature films in the running for the Colon de Oro being first works: La Leon, Nao por acaso, El brindis, Satanas, Maldeamores and El baño del Papa. The remaining half of the works are from well-established directors or ones who have already attracted large audiences with other audiovisual works. Also at the Ibero-American festival – between the Seccion Oficial and the Seccion Rabida - a nearly complete selection of films representing their respective countries at the Goya Awards of the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematograficas de España [Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Sciences] and the Oscars in Hollywood’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are being shown.
