Ice Age Remains a Big Hit in Spain

The third part of the saga has had no near rival in Spanish cinemas and has had out-of-sight earnings.

It was a sure bet that the Ice Age animation franchise was going to continue to be a huge success with its third entry, but forecasts have not only been met, but exceeded. In its debut week, the film raked in more than five million euros from Spanish box-office, running away with the first two places on the top ten list in its standard and 3D versions.

Third place went to Transformers :Revenge of the Fallen , which has fallen far behind the ice age animals. Not even the explosive Megan Fox has been able to prevent the drop, with revenues of 742,988 euros. For its part, the updated classic The Last House on the Left reached an honourable fourth place. Wes Craven, in the original as director and now as producer, remains a master of horror films, and this film has had 608,195 euros in Spanish box-office receipts.

The new Spanish comedy Pagafantas has made little headway in the face of such fierce competition, although it can’t really complain. The film took fifth place with 517,491 euros in ticket sales in its first week. Man som hater kvinnor [Millennium: Part 1 – Men Who Hate Women ], however, has been in the top ten for six weeks and this week it occupied the sixth-place slot thanks to earnings of 347,113 euros. Following far behind was another high earner overall, Angels & Demons , with 174,226 euros.

The action film Inkheart , starring Brendan Fraser, was in eighth place, with 156,706 euros. Finally, closing out the list were Terminator Salvation (135,707 euros) and Obsessed (133,293 euros).
