Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie?

The movie is a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer, in which Johnny Depp would play an American tourist caught up in a web of intrigue with an INTERPOL agent (Jolie), who is looking for a former lover with criminal tendencies.

If the Pirates of the Caribbean hero’s participation is confirmed, Depp will take over from Sam Worthington, who abandoned the project on the grounds of artistic differences. Worthington has just finished filming the blockbuster Clash of the Titans , and has become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood after being chosen by James Cameron for Avatar and by McG for Terminator Salvation.

It’s not just the cast of The Tourist which has seen a few changes. At first it was going to be directed by German filmmaker Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, but he changed his mind and subsequently the name of Alfonso Cuaron was proposed to fill the director’s chair.

Although this is one of the stronger films due to be released in 2011, it must be admitted that since the beginning of the project several people have abandoned ship. First Bharat Nalluri was going to direct the story, with Tom Cruise as the hero. Then Charlize Theron came on board when it was decided that the main character would be changed to a woman, but finally she was replaced by Angelina Jolie.

As for the part of the tourist, Leonardo DiCaprio was the first to show an interest, but the role was given to Sam Worthington and now it looks likely that Johnny Depp will be playing this character.
