The American actor is making the most of being the inaugural speaker at the III FICOD (Forum on Digital Content) to present the film The Social Network , which he will be the executive producer of.

The film, which is due for release in the U.S. in 2010, is based on the current affairs book, The Accidental Billionaires , written by Ben Mezrich. David Fincher, director of titles like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Zodiac , is in charge of making the film, now in pre-production, and which is being filmed this autumn in Boston and Los Angeles.

The screenplay by Aaron Sorkin (creator of the series "The West Wing") tells the story of the creators of Facebook two students from the prestigious Harvard University, Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin, who in 2004 had the ingenious idea of designing what later became one of the most popular social networking websites in the world.

Kevin Spacey was awarded along with Ian McKellen (recent San Sebastian Film Festival prize recipient) at the Variety Club Awards, held in London on November 15. The actor received the award for his contribution to the theatrical world, which he is currently involved in as artistic director of Londons "Old Vic" Theatre.

In addition, 50 year-old Spacey has been given two Oscars, one in 1995 in the category of Best Actor in a Supporting Role for The Usual Suspects and another in 1999 as Best Actor in a Leading Role for American Beauty .
