Actor Luis Varela will be the lead voice in the Spanish-language version of UP , new film from the Disney factory. The premiere in Spain will be on 30th July and will also include the voices of Matias Prats, Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo and Sebastian Alvaro.

The veteran actor, which we can see in the popular series “Camera Cafe” will play Carl Fredriksen, a 78-year-old balloon seller, who will finally be able to fulfil his lifelong dream in 'UP' by attaching thousands of balloons to his home and taking flight, heading for South America.

The actor, with a great deal of experience in the field of dubbing but has been out of it for some time, stated that he couldn’t say “no” to this kind of project because it involves “An enormously tender character, the drawings are very beautiful and the story is so delightful that it is an honour for me to have been selected by Disney.

Nonetheless, when you ask him about the plot, Varela prefers not to say anything because it’s "not to tell, but rather to be seen. It’s a truly wonderful story and all the work brought back memories to me of my childhood." The role of Carl Fredriksen in the original version is another veteran actor, the American Ed Asner, who played the unforgettable Lou Grant in the series of the same name.

Following the established trend, other well-known public figures provide their voices to the film. Popular presenter Matias Prats pays homage to her father, playing the voice of an old-fashioned film news presenter reporting on the around-the-globe feats of explorer Charles Muntz. Another tribute, this time to explorers, is made by the presence of two of our most famous adventurers, Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo, creator and director of Ruta Quetzal, and Sebastian Alvaro, of "Al filo de lo imposible", who will have a small part in the film.
