The Platform for New Filmmakers has given an award to the feature film Amanecer en Asia

The Plataforma de Nuevos Realizadores [Platform for New Filmmakers ] started in 1991 to later become a Festival in 2004. At this edition, the award for Best Feature Film 2009 went to Amanecer en Asia , a filmed in Bangkok and directed by Dionisio Perez Galindo. The jury was composed of Victor Garcia Leon, director of Vete de mi [Go Away from Me ] , journalist Gregorio Belinchon Yague, and actress Pilar Castro.

Apart from the winning feature film, Animales de compañia by Nicolas Muñoz, Instrucciones para una nueva vida by Jorge Vidal, alias Jordal; Pedro e o capitan by Pablo Iglesias Rendo, and Sesion by Daniel Diosdado were also shown at the event.

However, the bulk of the festival was devoted to short films. In the Official Section, the winner of Best Short Film 2009 was Ver by Antonio Galeano. Second prize in this category went to Como conoci a tu padre by Alex Montoya. And, in the Official Section PNR [Plataforma de Nuevos Realizadores ], Miente by Isabel de Ocampo was chosen as the best short film of PNR members. The Peoples Choice Award was given to La princesa Alegria by Daniel Utrilla and Ruben Coca.

Iciar Bollain and Rafael Alvarez starred in the Parallel Section "Pasaron por aqui ", which included projections of Hola, ¿estas sola? by Bollain, Pecados capitales , a short by Alvarez, and El regalo de Silvia , an earlier work by award-winner Dionisio Perez Galindo.
