With a year to go still until Walt Disney premieres the film adaptation of the video game "Prince of Persia", the Huffington Post news website has posted the first photos from the film, in which we see Jake Gyllenhaal (one of the cowboys in Brokeback Mountain) showing off his hunky torso. According to gossip, the producer has been circulating these photographs to silence all of those who at one time have said this young actor wasnt the ideal person to play the part.
The film, directed by Mike Newell (of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and co-starring Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina (of Chocolat, Spiderman 2), is based on game number four of the "Prince of Persia" saga. On a journey to Azad, the king, Sharaman, and his son, the Prince of Persia, overthrow the powerful Maharajah of India and capture his daughter. In sacking the city, they obtain a gigantic hour glass and a mysterious dagger. A dying vizier, who wishes to get the powers of the sands of time, thus becoming an immortal god, deceives the Prince to open the hour glass of time. When the Prince uses the dagger to let the Sands of Time free, the Sands destroy the Kingdom and turn all of its inhabitants into monstrous creatures. Only the Prince, the Vizier, and the princess are unaffected, thanks to their possessions: the Princes dagger, the Viziers wand, and Farahs medallion. Its being produced by the all-powerful Jerry Bruckheimer.
