British actor Orlando Bloom, best known for playing Legolas in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, is to star in a new, madcap comedy which is scheduled to be made at the Ciudad de la Luz studios at the beginning of 2010. The producers of this British, American and Spanish co-production, to be entitled The Shoot have started to look for locations in desert areas near the film studios in Alicante.
The film, with an initial budget of five million euros, is one of the productions which will benefit from some of the thirty million euros which the new Instituto Valenciano del Audiovisual y la Cinematografia (IVAC) will be distributing until 2012, as part of an incentive scheme approved by the European Commission in 2008.
Although the director of the film has yet to be confirmed, a likely choice seems to be Andrew Morahan, maker of documentaries and Van Halen, Guns `n´ Roses, Pet Shop Boys and The Human League videos, and the film Goal!!! , yet to be released.
