On 3rd September, the Spanish Film Academy kicks off its cultural activities with the projection of Cordero de Dios (Lamb of God) by Lucia Cedron, within the Otras fronteras, otro cine (Other Frontiers, Other Cinema) series. The Academy, in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales de Argentina INCAA (National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts of Argentina) and the Argentine Embassy in Spain, is showing the most important recent Argentine productions in this series.
Cordero de Dios opened the last Rotterdam International Film Festival and has been a hit on the international circuit including a win of the Coral Award for best original script at the 2005 Havana Film Festival and the Golden Hummingbird at the 10th South American Film Gathering in Marseille. It also received the Public Choice Award at the prestigious Toulouse Film Festival. This highly-acclaimed film is the fist major work for the young director.
The film was made in 2002 but is closely tied to events which occurred in 1978. Cordero de Dios is a fiction story arising from things that happened to me. While the story is totally fictional, what Im presenting is something very close, deep and painful to me, in the words of Lucia Cedron, winner of the Silver Bear in Berlin in 2003 for her short film En Ausencia (In Absentia).
The event will take place on 3rd Spetember at 6:00 PM and will also include the projection of the short film 40 grados a la sombra by Flavio Gonzalez Mello. Admission is open and free until the venue is filled.
