With a script written by Albacete and Menkes, and Angeles Gonzalez Sinde, President of the Academy,
Mentiras y gordas introduces us to a group of young people just discovering life, and seeking solutions to their problems in their relationships. They indulge in crazy, delirious nights out, meeting each other on beaches, in discos, in sidewalk cafes and in chill-out rooms
But come the dawn, in the clear light of day, they also experience the inevitable comedown, back to reality and real feelings. Loneliness, broken promises and unfulfilled dreams become the main dilemmas for the protagonists.
Defined as a daring, modern and original view of young people and the lifestyle many of them lead, the main characters are played by the idolised Hugo Silva and Alejo Sauras, from the series
Los hombres de Paco and
Los Serrano, respectively. They are accompanied by Mario Casas (
Los hombres de Paco), Ana De Armas and Yon Gonzalez (both from
El internado), Ana Polvorosa (
Aida), Marieta Orozco (
Barrio,
Lo mejor de mi (The Best of Me)), Maxi Iglesias (
Fisica o quimica) and Asier Etxeandia (
Un paso adelante). A whole team of young actors from the new Spanish Brat Pack, many of whom come from the world of TV, and who are expected to fill cinemas with legions of fans.
Produced by Tornasol Films and Castafiore Films, shooting on location in Alicante and in the Ciudad de la Luz studios finished on 30th June.
