At the press conference,
Pablo Nuñez stated, "animation is present in our cinema visual effects or credits, for example, are a major embellishment to the final work. After 53 years of working in cinema, Im very touched to receive this award.
Angeles Gonzalez-Sinde, in her statement, emphasized the remarkable work of Pablo Nuñez: "for its superb descriptive and artistic cinematographic value. If his works arent on display at the Reina Sofia Museum as part of the treasure of Spanish art of the 20th century, Gonzalez-Sinde added, its only because the naturalness and sensibility of Pablo Nuñez leads him to be more concerned with working and creating for others than to be thinking about the enormity of his own work. Since 1986, the Spanish Cinema Academy has been giving this honorary award to people who have contributed to the industrial or artistic improvement of Spanish cinema in their lifetime careers. Pablo Nuñez has directed 32 entertainment and cultural short films in animation as well as real image with results which have been rewarded at Spanish and international film festivals. Of the more than 2,400 films he has made all together, standing out is his work with directors such as Orson Welles, Luis Buñuel, Luis Garcia Berlanga, Jose Maria Forque, Fernando Fernan Gomez, Carlos Saura, Gonzalo Suarez, Pilar Miro, Antonio Mercero, Mario Camus, Pedro Almodovar, Fernando Trueba, Victor Erice, Jose Luis Borau, Julio Medem, among many others.
