Although recently Fox confirmed their intention of bringing out a new chapter of the well known science fiction saga, to be directed by Carl Erik Rinsch, the studio now want to see the creator of the original films, Ridley Scott, in the directors chair.
According to Entertainment Weekly, at the Fox studios (the owners of the rights to Alien ), there are differences of opinion regarding the choice of director. In theory, Scott, the director of another classic of the genre Blade Runner , had joined the project as a producer and had himself named Rinsch so that he could make his debut as a film director after a long career in advertising. However, it seems that this idea has been criticised after rumours that Rinsch is romantically involved with Scotts daughter, Jordan. None of those involved have commented, but Fox representatives have announced that they wont make the film unless Scott directs it.
This new production would be a re-invention of the saga, with just one alien and a new Ripley, the character previously played by Sigourney Weaver.
