The titles which will be in the Official Section of the next San Sebastian Film Festival have been made public. The competition opener is the new work by filmmaker Atom Egoyan, director of Egyptian origin, who is a pioneer of renewal cinema such as we have seen in Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter. The film titled Chloe, (remake of the French title Nathalie X), stars Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried, and is the first directors first visit to the festival. Mother and Child by Rodrigo Garcia, will close out the festival. The maker of films like Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her and Passengers, is directing this drama starring Naomi Watts, Annette Bening and Samuel L. Jackson.
Among the other featured titles competing in the 57th Edition of the San Sabastian Film Festival for the Golden Shell Award are El secreto de sus ojos (The Secret in their Eyes) by the Argentine Juan Jose Campanella, this being the only Latin American film represented this year at the festival, Bruno Dumonts Hadewijch, after having won awards at Cannes previously with 'L'Humanite and Flanders, and Making Plans for Lena, a drama by Christophe Honore, who competed last year with La belle personne (The Beautiful Person). The United States is participating with Get Low, first feature film as filmmaker for the cinematography director Aaron Schneider, Oscar-winner for Best Short Film for Two Soldiers. This entry stars Robert Duvall, Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek.
Spanish presence in the Official Section will be represented by Los condenados (The Damned) by Isaki Lacuesta, eagerly awaited alter the critically-acclaimed La leyenda del tiempo, Javier Rebollos La mujer sin piano, which also has high expectations alter his award-winning first work Lo que se de Lola, which also competed in San Sebastian, and, finally, the first feature film by Antonio Naharro and Alvaro Pastor titled Yo tambien (Me, Too), a drama starring Lola Dueñas and Pablo Pineda, an actor with Downs Syndrome. It should also be noted that Fernando Trueba will be presenting El baile de la Victoria (The Dancer and the Thief), although out of competition.
