This actress could be chosen to play the character of Natasha Romanoff

According to the film magazine Entertainment Weekly, Scarlett Johannson is in the middle of negotiations with Marvel studios to take on the role of the Russian Natasha Romanoff, better known as the Black Widow.

In theory it was going to be the actress Emily Blunt (the uptight, semi-anorexic secretary from The Devil Wears Prada) who was to play the part, but it appears she has a previous commitment with 20th Century Fox to work on Gullivers Travels, the new adaptation of Jonathan Swifts novel starring Jack Black as the hero.

Faced with this problem, it didnt take Marvel studios long to find a replacement.

So far Marvel have confirmed nothing, despite the fact that Scarlett has already had various meetings with the director and with the producers.

Iron Man 2 will be directed by Jon Favreau again and will be released in cinemas on 7th May 2010. The actor Robert Downey Jr., nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Tropic Thunder, will once again adopt the persona of the man of iron. By his side will be Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell.
