The filming of New Moon, the movie sequel to the successful Twilight, is due to begin this March in Vancouver, Canada, and will then move on to Tuscany.
This time, Bella and Edward will have to confront a new problem: the Volturi, one of the oldest and most powerful vampire families in the world. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be playing the lead parts once again.
What is going to change is the director of the project. Director Catherine Hardwick cedes her chair to Chris Weitz, who so far has co-directed, with his brother Paul, films like American Pie and About a Boy, and then went solo with The Golden Compass, a wise combination of teen flicks and fantasy films. The good news, as confirmed by the production company Aurum, is that the fans wont have to wait until 2010 to see the end product: the premiere has been scheduled for the end of 2009.
Stephenie Meyers books and their adaptations for the big screen have become the hit phenomenon of the year. The first film of the saga brought in over 12 million euros in Spain.
