Short film "Flores en el parque", directed by Mariel Macia, wins award for Best Short Film Drama at the QCinema International Film Festival (Texas, USA)

The short film "Flores en el Parque (o los primeros besos)”, by script-writer and director Mariel Macia, has won the award for Best Short Film Drama at the QCinema International Film Festival in June 2007 in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. This award has been added to other short film awards it has received, having won the public’s choice award for “Best Short Film” and “Best Spanish Work” at the LesGaiCineMad 2006 international film festival, “Chameleon” of the Official Jury for “Best Short Film in Video” at the Cine Inedito de Islantilla international film festival (Huelva, Spain), and "Best Female Performance" for Diana Diez at the Dunas Short Film Festival (Fuerteventura, Spain). "Flores en el parque" is a story placed by Isabel Sanchez and Diana Diez which tenderly shows the encounters of two women who are getting to know each other in a park. USA: One in Ten (Pennsylvania), Honolulu Rainbow (Hawaii), Qcinema (Texas), NewFest (New York), Out Film CT (Connecticut), Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Frameline 31 (San Francisco), and the North Carolina Film Festival. LATIN AMERICA: Diversa (Buenos Aires, Argentina), For Rainbow Festival de Cinema de Diversidade Sexual de Fortaleza (Brazil), and Muestra Diversa (Caracas, Venezuela). Thus, the director adds new recognition of her work to other awards she has received, including First Prize at the European Short Film Script Contest Nisimasa Spain 2004, taking sixth place at the European level (of 600 scripts) for her short film “Leo y Abril (o la historia de un guion)”, Script Award at the Universidad de Buenos Aires for her short film “Despedida (o la crisis argentina)”, to which are included the Muestra de Nuevos Talentos del Diseño Argentino (Sample of New Talent for Argentine Design) and the Muestra Itinerante Fejorel (Itinerant Sample Fejorel) at the Festival y Jornadas de Realizadores Latinoamericanos (Latin American Film-makers Festival and Program).
