This is the first time that National Radio and the Film Academy have worked together to organise a short film competition. This time young filmmakers Nacho Solana and Luis Miguel Artabe were victorious with their short film, Siete . The jury, composed of The President of the Academy, Eduardo Campoy; Producer/director Manuel Gomez Pereira; the director who won the last Goya for best fiction short film, Isabel de Ocampo; and the Spanish National Radio journalists Yolanda Flores (Director of the programme "De Pelicula") and Teresa Montoro, praised their grasp of cinematographic language and the value of surprise as a plot element.
Also, Ignacio Roca, aged 19, obtained a special mention for his work Iday , which according to the jury was owing to the works freshness and imagination; and another mention went to Julio Mazatrico for his En la biblioteca due to its full use of scene resources and the play of the dialectic.
Out of over one hundred entries submitted for the competition, which was subsidised by the Fundacion Caja Murcia, only ten were shortlisted by the makers of the programme De Pelicula. All the finalists can meet up today, Wednesday, in the Academy auditorium, to see the RNE programme "De Pelicula" being recorded, starting at 19:00.
