Spain is once again well represented at the 62nd edition of the International Film Festival of Locarno. The competition, which is held this month, from 5 to 15 August, is one of the most prestigious summer film festivals.

Amongst the Spanish films which will take part in the event are Petit Indi , by Marc Recha, who is participating for the fourth time, on this occasion in the most important section: Piazza Grande. Blow Horn , by Luis Miñarro, will be included in the Ici et Ailleurs section, together with In Between Days , by Naomi Kawase and Isaki Lacuesta, and Ich bin Enric Marco , directed by Lucas Vermal and Santiago Fillol.

However, Spain will mostly find a showcase in the sphere of the short film; also in the Ici et Ailleurs section, there will be a space dedicated to young Spanish short film makers, in the "D-Generacion" programme. The films shown will include: A.K.A. Familia Nuclear , directed by Marc Igual; Alice in Hollywoodland , by Jesus Perez-Miranda; De la hospitalidades, derecho de autor , by Miguel Amorim and Oriol Sanchez; Detesto el sentimentalismo barato , by Jorge Torregrosa; If the Camera Blows Up , by Oscar Perez; La invasion , by Gonzalo de Pedro; La Sortie, by Chus Dominguez; Limits: 1st person , by Leon Siminiani; Microscopias , by Isaki Lacuesta; Miralls , by Gerard Gil; Sempre una estranya , by Laia Ramos; Texas Sunrise , by Lluis Escartin; The End , by Fernando Franco; The toro's revenge , by Maria Cañas; and ¿Que hago yo aqui? , by Daniel Cuberta.

The festival this year will pay homage to the figure of Toni Servillo, who will receive the 'Excellence Award'; to the costume designer Rolf Gerard; and to producer Martine Marignac, as the Best Independent Producer. But, even more importantly, the biggest award-winner in this section will be the director, producer, actor and scriptwriter William Friedkin, who will be presented with the festival’s Leopard of Honour.
