Warner Bros. Pictures, rights-holder to Rowlings novels, publicly announced on March 13 its plans to extend the number of films planned to-date in the Harry Potter series. So, the seven films which would have equaled the number of novels with the same titles will now be eight, by dividing the last book into two parts for the film adaptation. David Heyman, the producer of the eight films which make up the series, explains that the reasons for dividing the final novel titled
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two parts are based on the complexity and quantity of events which close the final novel, which had stunning sales upon release last Christmas. The director of these final two parts of the screen adaptation will again be David Yates, who directed
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the last of Harry, Ron, Hermione and companys adventures on film to-date. Yates is now directing the making of
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is scheduled to debut in late 2008. Producer David Heyman is delighted with the choice of Yates to direct these films and, by doing do, becomes the director of the most films in the Harry Potter saga. Heyman states, Im excited by the idea that David Yates will be back to direct The Deathly Hallows, being someone who is inspired and inspiring at the same time, in addition to being an enthusiastic fan of the extraordinary world and characters Jo has created. I know his directing our incomparable cast and crew, most of which has been with us from the beginning, will take the saga to the unforgettable ending it deserves. With the justification by its makers that they want to be as faithful as possible to J.K. Rowlings last novel, film spectators will have Harry Potters adventures until the summer of 2011, when the premiere of the second part is planned, and which now appears to indeed be the last film for the young wizard and his companions from the Hogwarts school.
