Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez surprised film lovers in 1999, when the film The Blair Witch Project came out. This independent horror film amazed audiences with its realism and amateur footage style.

Now, the creators are planning a new film based on the one which made them famous. Initially, their plan was to make a prequel about the films mythology, but finally they opted for a continuation of the events.

As Sanchez explained, it was the Lionsgate studios, owners of the rights, who rejected the idea of a prequel, as it would have been far more expensive. However, now Daniel and I are working on an idea for a continuation of the original film. Its the first time we have really agreed. We have ideas about the origin of the legend and we love the material thats emerging.

This will be the second movie of the franchise because, although in 2000 The Blair Witch Project 2 came out, it wasnt actually directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, and was mostly about the social phenomenon caused by the original film.
